Football Sunday

OK, there is some snow, but my friend Sebastian had to go down to the Tetons to find enough to ski on. If I was not working today I might join them for a road trip.

Home again

After being displaced for a week, I'm home again. After work on Saturday I drove by the house. The owners had wanted to get an "early start" but they were still packing at 1:30 PM when I drove by. Ugh! For climbing, an "early start" is about 4 AM or sooner. But, it's good to be home, and to have some control of my environment.

Fire!

Today I was looking out the office windows, and it was getting hazy. Later on I could smell smoke, and I wondered where this was coming from. Later on I could see 4 points of fire on the mountains to the East. They say it's a controlled burn, but it still filled the valley with smoke. Too bad I could not get a picture of it...it was too far away and too dark.

New view

This is my new view of the mountains for a week. I'm staring at the Bridgers from a different angle.

Thanksgiving Week

No picture - just a story. I am renting a house, and the owners are coming back to town. They decided to evict me for a week, but leave my stuff in the house. So, they will be living out of a suitcase, and so will I! Crazy, huh?

And besides that, the friends I am staying with will have to move me out before I can move back to my rental house. It's a DOUBLE eviction. Fortunately I have many new friends who will put up with me, so I will have another place to stay until I can move back to my "home".

So far it's not bad. It's like living in a motel room where you are afraid to touch anything. I'm afraid to break anything, or to leave a footprint or a spot of coffee on the counter.

On the other hand, it's a beautiful home, it's warm and dry while the snow is falling outside. I am learning how to pack light besides. I am used to living out of a backpack for a week, but with that you don't usually have to be around polite society, and you don't have to shave.

Paradise Valley

I was driving along the Paradise Valley and I enjoyed the views immensely. The snow was on the tops of the peaks, and the roadway was clean. A nice brisk day for enjoying the outdoors for sure.

Post the First -

Time to see if I can blog a small part of the world. Somewhere I can post pictures and observations from a newbie in Montana.
